In the film “The taboos other face” minority women present their own stories. It covers their thoughts about the body, sexuality and relations. It confronts both cultural taboos and images of these women as repressed individuals with no influence over their own lives.
Who is a Norwegian? What are Norwegian values? And how can we get a multicultural Norway to function in a positive way? Minority women attempt to give us answers.
In 2002 The MiRA Centre produced the film Let the girls speak out about arranged and forced marriages, and this is now available for sale.
Both in Norway and the other Nordic countries it has been until recently a rarity to see black people perform live in the media or in public arenas such as culture scene, and in politics. Black peoples misery, sad fates or criminal activity has dominated. This perception of their life situation is not true among most minority people.
