It is our experience that many minority women and girls face prejudices related to their religious beliefs and practices when dealing with various institutions in the labour market and society at large. These women are often reduced to a stereotypical religious identity – when in reality, religion can be diverse in its interpretation and constitutes only one of many identities an individual possesses. The MiRA Centre is a politically and religiously independent organization that works to secure the full realization of human rights and equal opportunities for minority women and girls within the Norwegian society, regardless of their faith.
The MiRA Centre is a resource centre with expertise on issues related to migration, racism, gender and minority women. The centre offers training, courses, seminars and consulting services as well as lectures to interested individuals, institutions and organizations.
