It is our experience that many minority women and girls encounter prejudices related to their religion and religious practice in the face of public assistance, in the labor market and society at large. Many also experience being reduced to a stereotypical religious identity – when religious understandings are diverse and constitute only one of many identities the individual holds.

The MiRA Center is a party-politically and religiously independent organization that works for the full realization of human rights and equal opportunities for minority women and girls in Norwegian, multicultural society. We believe that equality should apply to everyone regardless of religious affiliation and that there should be freedom of choice in relation to, among other things, clothing.
